I have finally finished my ER marathon!  Yes, this time last year I had never seen a single episode and now I have seen every single one.  For a time I didn’t think I’d make it through the dead years (seasons 10-12) but I skipped ahead and watched the last season (which in my very inexperienced opinion, I absolutely loved, even though at that point I knew absolutely nothing about any of the characters) and knowing how it all ended gave me the willpower to go back and slog through the rest.

The two ships (okay, three if we include Peter/Elizabeth) that I was actually invested in bookended the series (Doug/Carol and Tony/Sam).  I have never laughed as hard as I have with a variety of Neela storylines whether it be her getting kissed by everyone at Luka/Abby’s wedding or the whole Harold/Neela dynamic (epic!).  I was legitimately upset that Elizabeth was the only one who turned up to Romano’s memorial service and lit a candle for him.  Even more upset that such an awesome character as Elizabeth got such a lukewarm ending.

There have been characters that I loved (Carol, Sam, Tony, Doug, Elizabeth, Anna, Susan, Neela, Michael, the entire nursing staff, a whole array of minor characters and guest-stars), characters that I could never quite like as much as canon wanted me to (Mark, Peter, Carter and Abby to a certain extent), characters that I never thought I’d warm up to but ended up loving (Pratt, Archie), and characters that I could never grow to like (Luka, Cleo).  And yes, after 11 seasons, I finally loved Kerry Weaver in Season 13.  Then she left.  Doh.  Oh and I am still waiting to find out what happened to Bob by the way.

Finally, my favourite ER vids that I have found on YouTube: ‘Wherever You Will Go‘, ‘You Found Me‘, ‘Closing Time‘,  ‘Happy Ending‘ (about the non-endgame couples … kind of made me realise how much I liked the ships that didn’t get their happy ever after), ‘Time Of Our Lives‘ <3 <3 <3 (gets extra points as Tyrone Wells is one of my favourite male artists).  Any of you veterans have any recommendations?  I keep forgetting that the majority of this series happened pre-fandominternet explosion.

Top 25 TV Family Dynamics

They are in a very very vague order of preference.  Very vague because I love them all for different sorts of reasons and obviously they jump up the list, if I happen to be marathoning that particular show.  I mean the Top 10, especially, are all real favourites.

25. Michael Scofield/Lincoln Burrows
(Prison Break)

When I think about Prison Break, I like to pretend that the show consists of one seriously awesome first season and the rest doesn’t exist but either way what Michael did for Lincoln is more than enough to justify their place on this list, I think.

24. Jack Donaghy/Colleen Donaghy
(30 Rock)

Jack: Mother, there are terrorist cells that are more nurturing than you are.

Colleen: Tell him that his mother loves him but not in a queer way!

You’re always a guaranteed a laugh with these two!

23. Cal Lightman/Emily Lightman
(Lie To Me)

Emily: I have a question ….
Lightman: Uh oh, what does that look mean?
Emily: Gillian …. do you love her?
Lightman: Of course I do darling, of course I love her.
Emily: No I mean really love her.
Lightman: Yeah.
Emily: Then what are you waiting for?
Lightman: I don’t have an answer for that one love.

I sometimes think that the writers write unnecessary scenes for them when the screentime could better be spent exploring other areas (Lightman/Foster and Loker/Torrez) but their relationship is an important part of the show and she ships Lightman/Foster, so yeah, I had to include them on the list despite my misgivings.

22. Michael Westen/Madeline Westen
(Burn Notice)

Madeline: You know you missed your father’s funeral… by eight years.
Michael: Well, last time I talked to him he said, “I’ll see you in hell, boy,” so I figured we had something on the books.

In the scheme of things, the relationship between these two probably isn’t the most important thing about the show but the show wouldn’t be the same without it. Whilst Madeleine started out as being the annoying over-sensitive, hypochondriac mother in the Pilot, she has become so much more than that recently. She can muck in with the others in order to help Michael complete a mission and she’s willing to give her life to protect her son if need be.

21. Richard Castle/Alexis Castle

Alexis: Take me with you!
Castle: To a crime scene?
Alexis: It’d be educational. Please?
Castle: Find your own hiding place.

I love how Alexis is the grown up in the relationship!  I find Castle’s child-like personality quite irritating sometimes but he’s usually at his most adorable in scenes with Alexis.

20. Tim Riggins/Billy Riggins
(Friday Night Lights)

Tim: Hey Billy can you pass me that violin please?
Billy: Shut up.
Tim: You’re hoggin’ it.

Gosh these two! Fancy being raised by Billy Riggins! You might as well have been born with a beer bottle permanently glued to your hand. However, his heart is in the right place and he has always wanted Tim to do better than him and have a better life …… and then Tim ended up going to prison for him. And yet, even though you understand why Tim is so angry at his brother, you can’t help but like Billy. He’s been a great part of the show and I am sad for the actor that he never got made a regular.

19. Chin Ho Kelly/Kono Kalakaua
(Hawaii Five-0)

Kono: Come on, you’re going to make it to my graduation, right?
Chin: I don’t think that’s such a good idea. Between our family and HPD.
Kono: I don’t care what they think. You’re the reason I became a cop.

They’re cousins, they would do anything to protect each other. Erm, not much more to say at this point? I kind of like how Kono dislikes Chin’s ex-wife so much, more than Chin himself!

18. Danny Williams/Grace Williams
(Hawaii Five-0)

Danno: You ready to see your Uncle Mattie, or what? He’s what?
Grace: The coolest ever.
Danno: You know a less secure father might take that personally. I always considered myself the coolest ever.

My favourite episodes of the series so far have all been the ones with the Danny/Gracie/Rachel dynamic.  It has also made me like Danny a hell of a lot more.  Take note show.

17. Ross Geller/Monica Geller

Monica: Man, this sucks. If mom and dad don’t see us on T.V. after we made them so jealous, who’s going to be the losers then?
Ross: Hey, I know what will get us up on a platform.
Monica: What?
Ross: The routine.
Monica: Ross, we haven’t done the routine since middle school.
Ross: Hey, when the snippy guy sees the routine he’ll want to build us our own platform.
Monica: Was it really that good?
Ross: We got honorable mention in the brother/sister dance category. Look, it’s almost fake midnight. Do we really have any other choice?
Monica: Okay, let’s do it. Mom and dad are going to be so faced.

Ross: Hey I married a lesbian to make you look good!

Self-explanatory. I don’t think any other siblings on here have their own ~dance~.

16. Jack Bristow/Sydney Bristow/Irina Derevko

Will: “Laura, all my love, forever and a day. Jack.” That’s not, like, your dad Jack, is it?
Sydney: Yeah.
Will: Wow. That’s uncharacteristically sweet of him.
Sydney: I know. He actually has a heart, which I’m learning little by little.

These three definitely have one of the most complex relationships on the list, especially since they all have a very difficult time trusting each other and at various times believe that they’re working for the enemy etc. etc. However, there is no doubt that although he sometimes finds it hard to express his feelings, Jack loves Sydney and one of my favourite story arcs of the show is in Season 2 when Irina appears and she, Jack and Sydney go on a couple of missions together. Then everything got so complex, everything is just a blur. Still, what was clear was that Jack would do anything to protect his daughter, even if Sydney didn’t always understand that.

15. Vince Howard/Regina Howard
(Friday Night Lights)

With most of the pairs/relationships mentioned on the list, the family dynamic is at the very heart of the show but arguably Vince/Mum played a backseat to everything else happening in Dillon and yet it’s just so beautiful. It is through their relationship that we got to see what a good guy Vince really was and even though he tried to play the tough guy at the start, he really had a heart of gold. There he is, a young teenage boy with his father in prison, living in a crappy neighbourhood, looking after his mother who is always passed out from drink and he never stops looking after her.

14. John Casey/Alex McHugh

Casey: You were named after your dad, Alex. You were named after me. My real name’s Alex Coburn. Please you have to trust me. You have to get to your mom and disappear. Go Alex. Run!

The extent of their relationship used to be that he would go to the restaurant where she worked and order apple pie and coffee from her but that all changed when he kidnapped her and told her that he was her father as she ran away from him. And now that she’s dating Morgan!!!!!  LMAO!  I can’t wait to see more exploration of their relationship.

13. Meredith Grey/Lexie Grey
(Grey’s Anatomy)

Meredith: You’re the guy who used to pour my cereal in the morning. That’s it. That’s all I remember about you. You’re not my father. You’re just the guy that used to pour my cereal, and if you die, it probably won’t change my life that much, but it will change hers. If you die, it will break her, and I’m not gonna let you do that. I don’t know what it’s like to have a father, but I do know what it’s like to have a sister, and it’s good.

Good or bad, the one thing Grey’s Anatomy is good at doing is exploring relationships. I really wish they’d explore the Meredith/Lexie dynamic more than they have. I know that Meredith doesn’t –do- the whole warm, cuddly sisterly dynamic but I just wish they reminded us that they are sisters a tad more than they have.  The only reason I like having Thatcher show up is so we can have some Meredith/Lexie scenes.

12. Keith Mars/Veronica Mars
(Veronica Mars)

Veronica: Man, you get everyone to confess.
Keith: I think it’s the uniform. Do you have anything to confess?
Veronica: Yes. You embarrass me.

If Lorelai/Rory win the award for “cool Mum/daughter” relationship then I think Keith/Veronica would win it for “cool Dad/daughter” relationship. I love their banter.

11. Lorelai Gilmore/Rory Gilmore
(Gilmore Girls)

Rory: I think you’re acting a little immature.
Lorelai: I’m not acting!

Again the relationship between these two is well and truly chronicled in picspams and posts far more eloquently worded than anything I could write. Lorelai is the coolest Mum ever. However, although Lauren Graham keeps saying how different Lorelai and Sarah (Parenthood) are, I can actually see similarities – Lorelai might have been cool and awesome but she wasn’t perfect and Sarah tries so so hard that she should get make-up points for that.

10. Nate “Baze” Bazile/Lux/Cate Cassidy
(Life Unexpected)

Lux: How long has it been?
Baze: How long, how long has what been?
Lux: Since you’ve had feelings for Cate.
Baze: I just…I thought that if I gave it time, the feelings would go away. But after the last two days, I don’t know if I want the feelings to go way. We felt like a family, the three of us, for the first time. It felt really good.

Oh these three! None of them knows how to be a good father, good mother or good daughter but at least in two of the cases, they get full points for effort. This three-way dynamic was my favourite thing about the show and am sad that it was so blatantly absent from the second season.

9. Coach Eric Taylor/Julie Taylor/Tami Taylor
(Friday Night Lights)

Julie: I love you guys and you’re the best parents in the world.
Tami: Something terrible must have happened.

I love the relationship between Coach/Julie too (their pingpong sessions!) but nothing can beat Tami/Julie. Whether it’s Tami trying to talk to Julie about sex (twice!) or that absolutely beautiful scene in the finale where she takes her hand and instead of giving her a lecture says “it’s just you’re so young”, there is never any doubt as to how much Tami loves her daughter.

8. Matt Saracen/Grandma Saracen
(Friday Night Lights)

Grandma Saracen: I saw that game tonight. You played great, you just played great.
Matt: Thanks.
Grandma Saracen: You’ve always loved football, Matty. I remember when you were two years old, you were trying to throw a football and it was bigger than you were. And you were such a sweet baby, such a sweet, sweet baby. But here you are all grown up taking care of everything. I don’t know what I’d do without you. I don’t know. Matthew? I love you.
Matt: I know. I, I love you, too, grandma. Grandma, hey.
Grandma Saracen: You are such a good boy.
Matt: That’s because I was raised by you.

No one else has a relationship like these two. Although presumably when Matt was younger his Grandma looked after him, now their relationship is very much based around the fact Matt looks after her instead of the other way round. Some of the scenes where Grandma is going through a very bad dementia spell are heartbreaking. No matter what else Matt is going through in his life, he always puts his Grandma first and would do anything for her.  That scene early in the first season where he pretends to be his dead grandfather and sings to his grandma to calm her down with Landry and Julie watching?  HEARTBREAKING.

7. Coach Eric Taylor/Vince Howard
(Friday Night Lights)

Vince: Before football I was going nowhere fast, straight to juvie. Playing for the East Dillon Lions probably saved my life. I got a bond with my teammates that will never be broken. I got a Coach that’s been like a father to me. He shows up and gives a hundred percent every game, every practice.

I am cheating with this one in that Coach is NOT Vince’s father but for most of the two seasons that we see Vince, Coach acts like his substitute father and even when Vince’s real Dad does come back into the picture, Coach is still the one looking out for Vince and has his best interests at heart. Towards the end of Season 5, we finally see Vince appreciate Coach and all that he has done for him.
I know that Coach/Matt also had a little bit of the father/son dynamic going on but I think that was countered by the fact that Matt was always going to be the guy dating his daughter. At various points Coach as played that father-figure role to Riggins, Smash and even Jason  <3 <3

6. Rusty Cartwright / Casey Cartwright

Casey: Do you like him?
Ashleigh: I don’t know, he’s Rusty, he’s your brother ….
Casey: Yeah he’s my little brother and even though he frequently annoys the crap out of me, I have to protect him. You can’t go messing with him unless you’re sure.

Casey: You don’t need me or anyone to protect you any more.  You can handle yourself.
Rusty: Well, I get that from you.

I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOW IS OVER. Remember when the series first started and Casey was the popular sorority girl who wanted to deny all existence of her little geeky brother and was mortified they actually had to be seen in public together? They’ve come a long way from that. They’ve both grown up such a lot, been there for each other and stood up for each other in that adorkable brotherly/sisterly defensive way.  And let’s not forget all Rusty did in the Pilot to defend Casey’s honour, even if she didn’t appreciate it at the time.

5. Nora Walker/Kitty, Sarah, Justin, Kevin, Tommy
(Brothers & Sisters)

Nora: Ladies, I am walking away.
Kitty: My God I think she’s breaking up with us!

Nora: Stop mothering? What the hell does that mean?!?!

Yes, this list would not be complete without Nora’s interaction with all of her kids. I’d say that the dynamics that get explored the most is Nora/Kitty’s failure to see eye-to-eye at the start of the series and Nora mothering Justin but her relationship with all of her children is a key component of the show.

4. Amber Holt/Sarah Braverman/Drew Holt

Drew: If he was a real Dad nothing you did could have made him leave. I know it’s not your fault.
Amber: We’ll always have Mum.
Drew: Yeah.
Amber: And we’ll always have each other.
Drew: Yeah.

In a show titled Parenthood, there are a lot of different family dynamics that could have made this list. However, this segment of the Braverman family are really the only ones deserving of their place on this list (though I do love Joel/Julia/Sydney too and always love Julia/Sarah scenes …)
Whether it’s Drew being completely adorable and worried when his mother doesn’t come home at night, Sarah and Amber fighting at the start of the series or Amber being an adorable older sister to Drew and taking him to their father’s gig although she doesn’t want to, these three have the most interesting family relationship on the show.  They are also different from many of the others on this list: most of these are the fluffy, ideal TV show relationships.  With Sarah/Amber/Drew, it’s very realistic.  There are several times where there’s been scenes with the characters just screaming at each other …… and yet due to what they went through as kids, Amber/Drew have a closer relationship than most teenage siblings do.  Plus, hello, Lauren Graham.

3. Justin Walker/Kitty McCallister
(Brothers & Sisters)

Kitty: What? What, Justin, go ahead. Go ahead, say it. Say it, what is it? What is it, because I’m here. I’m bleeding and I’m aching because I’ve just had a miscarriage, but I’m here, and I’m dealing with you, and I’m dealing with your addiction. So what is it, what is it, tell me? Tell me, come on. Tell me, what is that I’m doing that isn’t all about how much I love you.

I have spent my entire fandom life forgetting the absolute beauty that is the Justin/Kitty relationship. As much as I love Sarah/Kitty, I actually think J/K is the most important sibling relationship in the whole show. At least that was the key one in the Pilot from when he picks her up from the airport and she interrogates him about his life and I think that at all important moments in Justin’s life, he has always come to Kitty for advice. Plus the fact that she supported him joining the Army after 9/11 is the reason why Kitty/Nora didn’t get on for years (which is kind of the whole storyline behind the first season).

The intervention scene that the quote is from? No matter how many times I watch that scene, when we get to the bit where Kitty says that, it makes me cry every time. This scene/episode is the one scene I would use to prove that this show was so completely awesome and worth watching in the first couple seasons. It gives me chills.
And the Justin/Kitty scene later on in the same episode too <3 <3 <3 <3. It’s only when I was compiling this list that I realised how adorable these two are and went and rewatched this episode.
This is why although I probably love Sarah the most, Kitty is the most interesting character and I am always emotionally invested in her storylines. This show cannot survive without Callista Flockhart and Sally Field and I have been missing Kitty in the episodes she hasn’t been in this season.

2. Chuck Bartowski/Ellie Woodcomb

Chuck: We’re going after them, and we’re gonna take ’em down. The Ring. Shaw. For what they did to dad, they’re not gonna get away with this.
Ellie: Okay… And then you’re done.
Chuck: What?
Ellie: As a spy. This – this life, this job. Chuck, I made a promise to keep you safe, and I can’t do it. Not from this. So you finish it – and then you’re done.
Chuck: Ellie, I…
Ellie: We’re all that we have left, Chuck. And I’m not going to lose you, too.

These two are the model of the perfect brother/sister relationship. Ellie practically raised Chuck and I love that they still lived together (at the beginning of the show). She is so motherly and protective and they care about each other so much that it was practically torturous the way she didn’t know Chuck’s secret for 3 whole seasons and he had to lie and keep so much from her.  Of course he’s still doing that to a certain extent but at least she knows much more than she did for most of the series.

1. Sarah Walker/Kitty McCallister
(Brothers & Sisters)

Sarah: My face feels funny.
Kitty: It looks funny.

These two <3 <3 <3 <3. They’re just so funny together. Even when they’re bickering, they’re hilarious and I love them both as individual characters so when they share a scene together, the awesomeness just multiplies. The very first scene of the Pilot is of these two on the phone to each other. I especially love these two during Kitty’s cancer storyline. At the end of 4×03 when Kitty opens the door and Sarah’s standing there and they hug and throughout the whole of 4×04 when Sarah goes with her to chemo and tells her about what happened in France. I especially love the part where Sarah changes her story and tells Kitty the reason it didn’t work out with Luc was because she caught him with another woman when actually the real reason was because she got a call from their Mum telling her about Kitty’s cancer and she had to rush back to America.

Criminal Minds: 6×18 – Lauren

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!  The two amazing CM-quality calibre episodes this season have been the ones where they write characters off.  If we lose one character per episode for the rest of the season does that mean we might have five amazing episodes in a row?  That’s a trade-off I might be willing to make, especially since my two main reasons for getting giddy over this show have now gone.  I mean this episode actually felt like something of a series finale and in a way it is: the show will never ever be the same again.

FLASHBACKS!  I love flashbacks!

“Why run, we’re her family, we can help.”  REID YOU ARE ADORABLE!!!!

JJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Fantastic entrance!  Lol.

It’s kind of painful seeing Morgan so mad at Prentiss.  Understandable though.  Very in-character plus I guess it was nice to have someone angry to balance out all the !epicworry of the others.

Prentiss/Ian Doyle.  I kind of guessed that she was playing that role as her cover but I really didn’t need to see that.

OMG Garcia’s voicemail message to Emily!  TEARS!  TEARS!

Garcia: Hey, it’s me. Hotch asked me to try all your numbers, and I have this is an old listing and you probably don’t even use it any more. But if it is you and you’re out there, come home, please. God, Emily, what did you think?  That we would just let you walk out of our lives? I am so furious at you right now! But then I think about how scared you must be in some dark place all alone, but you’re not alone okay? You are not alone. We are in that dark place with you. We are waving flashlights and calling your name, so if you can see us, come home. But if you can’t, then, then you stay alive because we’re coming.

Holy crap Prentiss is so bad ass with that gun and the flash grenade.

I do not like the fact that it feels like this is all leading up to some torture/rape combo.

Prentiss faced with the possibility of Seaver/Rossi getting shot in front of her!!!

Okay so that’s twice now that Seaver has ended up with blood spattered all over her, right?  She should seriously consider a change of career.

And finally a scene which might help audience warm to Seaver.  That Rossi/Seaver scene was great.  Loved seeing her afraid that Rossi had basically just told her that Prentiss’ life was in her hands.  Finally finally finally Seaver DOES SOMETHING.  Though I am aware that a whole generation of Rossi/Seaver shippers were probably born from that scene.  And it did seem like that Rossi knew the answer but he was just pushing Seaver to say it which was …. confusing.

Jeremy was the traitor!  Poor Sia!  I liked her, at least from what we got to see of her.

Prentiss playing with the kid?  So adorable.

Morgan: Prentiss, hey, it’s me, I’m right here, you’re going to be all right.  Stay with me baby, come on, stay with me.

Prentiss: Let me go.

Morgan: No I am not letting you go.  Listen to me, I know why you did all of this.  I know what you did for Declan.  I am so proud of you.  Do you understand that?  I am proud of you because you are my friend and you are my partner.  No Emily!  Stay with me!  If you can hear me please just squeeze my hand.  Yes then, there you go Emily, just keep squeezing.

Prentiss/Morgan!!!!  He called her baby!  He usually reserves that endearment for Garcia!!!!!  I can just imagine that if any other situation she would respond with a “don’t call me baby”.  OMG HIS SPEECH TO HER!!!!!  I love that they gave her “deathbed” scene to Morgan.  I think it suited their arc in the past couple of episodes and their partnership in the whole series.  I love that Morgan got to tell her how proud he was of her after his anger at the start of the episode.

I don’t feel like JJ was given enough to do.  I know this episode wasn’t about her and the fact that she was even brought in was more for the fans than for plot progression but I sort of just wish she had helped in one concrete way apart from presenting the facts at the start……

But then they gave her the job of announcing that Prentiss was dead!  OUCH.  Reid!  Adorable!  JJ CALLS REID “SPENCE”!  YES THE SCENE THAT I MISSED MOST FROM J

Now I am pretty sure that I read numerous interviews which said that Paget’s exit would be open-ended so the scene with all of them crying didn’t really have the effect that it intended because I kept waiting for the ‘but’ to come.   Like the whole funeral scene happened with me thinking of “but she’s not really dead” instead of being moved to tears (love the Morgan/Garcia holding hands!).  I hate the fact that they said they were leaving it open-ended because it sort of ruined all of this for me.  I wish that we had absolutely no idea what they were planning to do with Prentiss’ exit so that the final scene with her and JJ would have just been this huge waft of relief.

I love that the final ever scene was with JJ.  It was just so fitting that Paget and AJ should have their (possible) final ever scene on the show with each other and that both their leaving-the-show arcs were entwined.

I do hope that Paget comes back (especially since I am not won over by the sound of her Pilot) as she’s my reason for loving the show PLUS it would be really interesting to see how they manage to get Prentiss back onto the team.  However, if it’s not in the cards then it was a fantastic exit.  AJ’s was great too, they were both amazing in their different ways and worthy of the characters’ awesomeness.

So how do I feel about the episode/Prentiss’ storyline as a whole?!  Too much to process at the moment!  I mean it’s not like they’ve been building up to the big reveal of Prentiss’ spy past for the past five years – it’s all quite sudden.  Then having to process the thought that Prentiss/Ian Doyle WENT THERE is kind of icky ….. and yet sort of believable?  I don’t know, in any other situation I would have been dead against that whole angle from the get go but the writing/actors made it work?  Still icky.  I think the inclusion of Doyle’s son tipped me over.

I loved that the English guy wasn’t the traitor after all.  We don’t know what happened to Doyle right?  Presumably he escaped?  Will the team try to catch him?  And I thought that the scene in the hospital between JJ and Hotch where we didn’t get to hear what they were saying might have been JJ telling Hotch the truth about Prentiss’ fate (well, the scene was too short for her to be explaining it all then but I thought it was referring to it like “I think they bought it”) but then I read an interview with Thomas Gibson where it sounds like that Hotch really does think that Prentiss is dead.  That makes more sense as I don’t think Hotch would have the clearance to know the truth but eh, I thought that scene was implying more than it was then.  See during the funeral, there’s this look that Hotch gives JJ that I also thought implied that – gah this is what happens when you over-interpret scenes!

I loved the JJ/Reid scene that I longed for in “JJ”.  And I loved the whole Morgan/Prentiss arc.  I think that was perfect and so true to their partnership.  I mean over the years, it’s been those two who have had the conversations about their trust issues, their past and coping with the job etc.  Now of course I am going to have to rewatch the whole series just to confirm the fact that her being a spy hasn’t always been part of her backstory but it was just made up to facilitate this whole !epic exist storyline.  I am pretty sure that Prentiss’ kickass-ness has always just been in the context of being a good FBI agent.  What would have been interesting would be if they had the Prentiss-was-a-spy there from the beginning and given hints to the audience over the series ending with this big reveal that a team of FBI profilers couldn’t even profile one of their own.

God so much happened in this episode.  I can’t even …  I’m going to miss Prentiss so much.

What happened to Prentiss’ cat Sergio?  Can it please go live with Garcia in her office at the BAU?

House, MD: 7×15 – Bombshells

Objective Me: Wow this was a good episode and kudos to the writers for keeping House in-character even though they knew it would piss off the fans by breaking up House/Cuddy.

Subjective Me: Why?  Why?  Why?  Meh.  I liked House/Cuddy.  I am back to only watching this show for the wonderful Wilson.  Everyone else just exists to highlight his awesomeness.

I was nervous when I heard about this whole surreal, different genre thing they had planned.  However, after the first ten minutes, I was really enjoying the episode as a normal main-character-in-possible-life/death-situation and less focus on case episode.  Then the first dream sequence happened.  The sitcom was funny.  The zombie one was horrifying – there is a reason I don’t watch horror films.  The Western was … okay?  Ditto 50s household.  The musical one was good and trippy ……. I get the whole surreal dream thing but I don’t get why House/Cuddy were dreaming in different genres.  It was just to give the writers the chance to do this artistic exploration they wanted to do and I didn’t really get it ….. at least that was what I felt last night when I watched this episode.  This morning I am resolved just to accept that it happened.  It definitely turned out better than I feared.

I loved Cuddy/sister scenes, Wilson/Cuddy scenes (basically all Wilson scenes), Cuddy/Chase and as to the ending?  Yes it was very in-character for House but I like to pretend that he could change and had changed for Cuddy and I liked not having to deal with his addiction.  *sigh*.  Someone wake me up next time Wilson has a starring role.

Greek: 4×10 – Legacy

And so it comes to the Greek series finale.  A show that I rarely talk about but one that always made me smile and laugh and definitely one that is so much better than the premise might lead you to believe.  Also this show introduced me to the Plain White T’s (pre-‘Hey There Delilah’ fame).

Spoiler Alert: Utter perfection.  Also there was a lot of hugging.  A LOT.

This show has had a lot of enjoyable story arcs in its time but few as clever and amusing as when they went undercover in Parkes’ company.  I mean the fact that ALL the main characters were involved, even Rebecca (dressing up as Ashleigh)!  Absolutely hilarious!

Rebecca/Dale and the naming of the bad Matthew McConaghey movies. LMAO!!  One of my favourite “referencing pop culture” scenes.  Oh Rebecca is such a funny character.  I would even go as far as to say the funniest character on television.

<3 Rusty he is so sweet!!!!!!!  Rusty/Ashleigh.  When I rewatch, I’m going to have to start looking out for their moments from the beginning even if the writers only really decided that they were going to end up with each other this season.  I love how they made him worthy of Ashleigh by making him ever so slightly “cooler” than he was when he first joined the show but without changing who he is: he is still an adorable geek.  Ashleigh has always been wonderful and loveable and funny with her TV references.

Dale/Laura!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  LOL!  So glad that Dale got his happy ending.

Cappie/Casey – utter sweetness.  After reading TPTB’s plans for the series finale, if they hadn’t gotten a Season 4, I am more thankful than ever that we got another season.  We got to see Cappie grow up and be worthy of Casey but show him doing it for himself, not just to please her.  We saw him get to a stage in his life where he and Casey are about equal and they have a real shot of making things work.

Rusty/Cappie!!!!!  I love their friendship and “brotherhood”.

Wade, Jen K coming back!!!  Nice to see some old faces!!

Catherine/Beaver!!!!!!!!!!!  Hilarious!  The Beaver-centric episode was one of my favourites this season.

Ashleigh/Calvin friendship.  I love that dynamic and am sad that we didn’t get to see it that much this season.  It’s my second favourite friendship after Ashleigh/Casey.

Casey choosing Cappie and the Kappa Taus over her law career.  And then Evan doing the same!  Evan/Cappie/Casey <3 <3

OMG they tore down the house!!  :O:O:O:O:O

Rusty/Casey <3 <3 <3 <3  Adorable brother/sister scene.  LOVE.

Evan/Rebecca.  I never really cared for them too much but still <3 <3  And Evan saying “As it should be” in reference to Cappie/Casey <3.

Cappie’s real name!!!  LMAO!  The overriding mystery of the series is solved!  And I love how they kind of slipped it in there without the massive build-up.

Casey/Ashleigh – favourite friendship.  Love how Casey told her (and Rusty) to take care of each other.  Mirroring the Rusty telling Cappie to take care of his sister for him.

Rebecca hugging Casey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely love it when we get to see Rebecca’s softer side.  LOVE IT.   Dale KISSING Casey!!!!!!!!!!  LMAO!

The final scene with the goodbyes and everyone hugging each other and then Cappie and Casey riding off into the sunset with each other <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3.

And they played ‘Forever Young’ by Youth Group! <3  And I just read the post-series interview with the creator and he ended the interview saying he was the biggest Friday Night Lights and Parenthood fan.  YES!!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3  Extra bonus points!!

I think I’m going to miss this show and these guys more than I thought.  This was my go-to show that I could watch just for fun and not have to think too much to enjoy it.  And all the main characters were so engaging and loveable in their own way (apart from Evan), not to mention the hilarious secondary characters.  Plus I can’t think of one story arc that I absolutely detested.  Sure there were some plot points that I wasn’t particularly fond of but at no point did I ever consider dropping this show.

Oh, best series finale that I’ve watched in a long time, possibly ever.  Best as in everyone got their happy-ever-after (whilst staying true to themselves) since it’s the sort of show where everyone could get their happy-ever after realistically (unlike, say, Friday Night Lights) and the whole of this 10-episode series was building up to this happy-ever-after episode (unlike Life Unexpected where everyone did get their happy-ever-after but it kind of came out of nowhere and dumped in a five-minute segment at the end) so it was all wrapped up perfectly.  Perfection.

Criminal Minds: 6×17 – Valhalla

Well, I knew if I waited long enough Criminal Minds would be able to churn out an episode worthy of my prior-Season 6 love of the show.  Though to be honest, I was so blinded by the adorable Prentiss/team moments that maybe I am giving the episode more credit than it deserves?  How does everyone feel about this epic “we’re achingly slowly building up to Prentiss’ farewell” storyline that they’ve got going on?

Morgan: I tell you what does matter that you can trust me Emily, with anything.  I am serious, no matter how awful you think it is, I promise you you’re not alone.  I just wish you’d believe that.

<3 <3 <3 Morgan/Prentiss – I love their partnership.

Wow, they are really dragging out this whole Prentiss-leaving thing aren’t they?  I thought they would devote two episode max to it but we’re getting something like a five-episode arc.   That’s a good thing because Paget/Prentiss deserves the attention.  Over the last few episodes, I haven’t been particularly sucked into it (even if I loved the multiple scenes with Prentiss and her cat) but this episode had me holding my breath for half of it.  Although whether I actually like it or not will come down to what happens in the finale episode, this episode did at least keep me interested which is more than can be said for most episodes this season.

For a start I kept wishing throughout the whole thing that Prentiss would tell her team what was going on and I thought when they worked out what the tattoo on the dead guy was then she would come clean.  And again when they mentioned Ian Doyle, I thought she would spill the beans ….. and finally when she saw her friend shot through the head, I thought for sure she would tell Morgan what was going on.  Alas!

Now I am eager to find out the whole Ian Doyle / Prentiss thing and what was the necklace she flushed down the toilet?  Is that guy who was meant to be protecting her actually a double agent?  Kudos to the writers, they are giving Prentiss an epic farewell, I suppose.

However, ADORABLE PRENTISS/GARCIA, PRENTISS/REID and PRENTISS/MORGAN SCENES <3 <3 <3 <3 plus a Prentiss/Rossi scene in the elevator which echoed back to various Prentiss/Rossi moments in the past.  No Hotch/Prentiss though?  I’m okay with that but am sad for Prentiss/Hotch shippers.

Prentiss: Does anyone know?
Reid: You.
Prentiss: I won’t tell anyone
Reid: I know.  They’ll just worry, you know, not that you’re not going to worry but they’ll just make me feel like a baby, you know.
Prentiss: I do.
Reid: What about you?
Prentiss: I’m good.
Reid: You’ve been picking your fingernails again.
Prentiss: Yeah.
Reid: You only do that when you’re stressed.
Prentiss: It’s just a bad habit.

The way Prentiss looks at him throughout this whole scene made me MELT.  It’s like she really truly loves him (in a platonic way) and she’s so sad that a) she can’t tell him what’s going on and b) if she does it will put him in danger.  I’ve never really warmed to Reid as much as other people but there was something about this scene that made me all gooey.  He was just so …. innocent.  The fact that he told Prentiss what was going on with him and not anyone else?  It was just all really touching <3.

Prentiss: I know what the world can do to a girl who only sees beauty in it, like you.  Somehow you always make me smile and I don’t think I’ve ever thanked you for that.
Oh Prentiss/Garcia <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3.  It’s always been Garcia/JJ more than anything so I didn’t really have any high hopes for a sweet Garcia/Prentiss farewell scene but I am so glad that we got one!  When Prentiss was being sharp and hasty with her earlier on, it broke my heart (obviously though it was in-character and you can’t exactly blame Prentiss when she’s got so much on her mind!) but to have it balanced out Prentiss saying that really beautiful thing.  Gah Seaver interrupted though!

Morgan: I tell you what does matter that you can trust me Emily, with anything.  I am serious, no matter how awful you think it is, I promise you you’re not alone.  I just wish you’d believe that.
Prentiss: I do.~*~Morgan: You good?
Prentiss: I’m good.

Morgan/Prentiss <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3.  I love how they built up to this as well: in the previous episodes, Morgan asked her whether she was okay and kept giving her worried looks.  They work together the most so it’s only natural that he noticed more than anyone else that she wasn’t herself.  And in the previous episode, she told him not to profile her but he did anyway because he cares, even though he knew it would make her mad.  I thought it was a bit ironic that he said she didn’t trust anybody though.  Hasn’t the same thing been said about him in previous seasons?!  Anyway, I LOVED that scene.  He called her Emily and was really sweet and even though you could tell she was mad that he profiled her and torn between confiding in him or not, they still managed to have a laugh.  Then after when he came to her when she was throwing up and finally at the very end when he was still worrying about her <3 <3 <3.

And then when Prentiss was looking at everyone with tears in her eyes?  I think I started to cry too.

Deary me, I am going to be a nervous wreck throughout the whole of the next episode.  It’s episodes like this with those special inter-team moments that makes me realise how much I love this show, how I want it to carry on being as awesome as it used to be, and it makes me mad when it doesn’t live up to expectations because quite frankly, I hold it to a higher standard than other shows.

And finally, Seaver is still contributing absolutely nothing to the team and her presence is still unexplained.  I might be able to let the writers off for this episode since it was all about Prentiss and there was no time to explore anything else (even Hotch and Rossi didn’t get much screentime) but meh.  I feel a trend.  Now obviously when Prentiss is gone and Seaver is the only girl on the team in the field, they are going to have to stop ignoring her existence ….
